FairFareFinder GmbH Cookie Policy

Cookie Policy

Last updated: 19 August 2026  |  Applies to: FairFareFinder.com, HotWeekends.com, MeetOnArrival.com

1. What this policy covers

This policy describes the cookies we set, those set by Google Analytics where you have opted in, and the cookie set by the GetYourGuide widget embedded on destination pages. TDDDG §25 applies to any information stored on or accessed from your device. For full details of our data processing under GDPR, see our Privacy Policy.

We refer to FairFareFinder.com, HotWeekends.com, and MeetOnArrival.com collectively as "the Sites".

2. Our own cookies

We set four first-party cookies. All are set with Secure; SameSite=Lax and are accessible only over HTTPS. None are used for advertising or cross-site tracking by us.

Cookie Purpose Duration Legal basis
fff-consent Records your cookie preference choices (analytics: yes/no) and the timestamp of your last decision. Without this cookie we cannot honour your preferences across page loads. 6 months TDDDG §25(2) no. 2 — strictly necessary to record and honour your own consent decision
fff-user-preferences Stores the display preferences you have configured: currency, language, and temperature unit (Celsius / Fahrenheit). The duration matches the retention period you select in Settings; session-scoped by default. Session to 1 year — your choice TDDDG §25(2) no. 2 — strictly necessary to deliver the display preferences you have explicitly set
fff-origins Stores your selected departure city or cities (up to two for MeetOnArrival dual-origin searches) and the associated country codes. The duration matches the retention period you select in Settings; session-scoped by default. Session to 1 year — your choice TDDDG §25(2) no. 2 — strictly necessary to deliver the search functionality you have requested
fff-acknowledgements Records which informational notices you have dismissed (for example, the price-accuracy disclaimer banner) and the version of each notice you saw. Prevents the same notice being shown again after you have explicitly dismissed it. If a notice is updated to a new version, it will reappear once. 1 year TDDDG §25(2) no. 2 — strictly necessary to honour your explicit dismissal of an informational notice

3. Google Analytics cookies (opt-in only)

If you accept analytics cookies, we load Google Analytics 4 (GA4). The GA4 script is not loaded at all unless you opt in. Google acts as a data processor on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Each of our three Sites has its own separate GA4 property; data is not combined across brands.

We use GA4 Consent Mode: analytics_storage is set to denied by default and updated to granted only after you accept. IP anonymisation is enabled.

Cookie Purpose Duration Legal basis
_ga Distinguishes unique visitors. Contains a randomly generated client ID. Set by Google on the google.com domain. 2 years TDDDG §25(1) — consent (opt-in via cookie preferences)
_ga_<ID> Maintains GA4 session state for a specific property. Contains an expiry timestamp and session counter; no personal identifiers. Set by Google on the google.com domain. 2 years TDDDG §25(1) — consent (opt-in via cookie preferences)

You can review Google's privacy disclosures at policies.google.com/privacy. Data collected via GA4 may be transferred to and processed in the United States. Google relies on Standard Contractual Clauses as the transfer safeguard under GDPR Art. 46(2)(c).

4. GetYourGuide widget cookie

Destination share pages embed a GetYourGuide widget that shows activities available at the destination the user is viewing. We load this widget without requiring marketing consent because the user has explicitly arrived at a specific destination page, and showing relevant activities there is a functional part of that service, not cross-site advertising.

Cookie Purpose Domain Legal basis
visitor_id Set by GetYourGuide as part of delivering the activities widget for the destination you are viewing. We do not set this cookie, do not read it, and do not use it for our own tracking. .getyourguide.com TDDDG §25(2) no. 2 — strictly necessary to deliver the widget service you have requested by viewing a specific destination

What GetYourGuide does with this cookie on their side is governed by their own privacy policy at getyourguide.com/privacy-policy.

5. What we do not do

6. Cookies on partner websites

When you follow a link to a partner site (currently GetYourGuide), you leave our Sites and that site's own cookie policy applies. Cookies set by partners are set on their own domain, not ours.

7. Managing your cookies

You can change your analytics consent at any time via the Cookie Preferences option in the site footer or settings menu. Withdrawing consent stops Google Analytics loading for your current session and prevents it loading on future visits.

You can control how long we remember your departure city and display preferences via the Settings menu. Both default to session-only and are deleted automatically when your browser session ends unless you choose a longer period.

You can delete any cookie at any time via your browser settings. Deleting fff-consent will cause the cookie preference panel to reappear on your next visit. Deleting fff-origins will clear your saved departure city. Deleting fff-user-preferences will reset currency, language, and temperature unit to their defaults. Deleting fff-acknowledgements will cause any dismissed notices or banners to reappear.

8. Changes to this policy

We update this policy whenever our cookie usage changes. The date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes affecting analytics or third-party cookies will be accompanied by a new consent prompt.
